A German university town

I lost my heart in Heidelberg, are words to a song carved on a monument where lovers leave locks with their initials on —   very Paris-like. Heidelberg was the first city I visited in Europe and kept coming back a weekend per month for an entire year. It felt very much like home, mostly because my boyfriend lived there while my family was an ocean away.

I always tell my friends who are traveling to Germany to make at least a day-trip to Heidelberg. I will play TripAdvisor and recommend the Christmas Markets in the Altstadt, castle and kloster for winter season; a walk along the Neckar river for the summer and Königstuhl and Philosophenweg for a spectacular view of the city in all four seasons.
